Featured Artist

Mike Perkins

We are thrilled to be hosting an exhibition celebrating the extraordinary work of world renowned comic book artist Mike Perkins. After over 20 years living and working in the US, Mike has made Shrewsbury his home, and turned it into Gotham City.

Drawing for DC Black Label’s prestige series The
Batman: First Knight and its sequel Second Knight, Mike used Shrewsbury’s own streets and landmarks including the prison, the former Shelton Hospital and Netley Hall as the architectural soul of Batman’s brooding world.

Before Batman, Mike illustrated some of Marvel’s biggest icons: Captain America, Spider-Man, Thor, the X-Men, Fantastic Four and Doctor Strange. He is also the artist behind a 31 issue adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand, the critically acclaimed Swamp Thing (with Ram V), and most recently Judge Dredd: Death of a Judge. A multiple Eisner and Harvey Award nominee, Eagle Award winner, and New York Times bestseller, Mike is one of the most accomplished illustrators working in comics today.
