Featured Artists
Teresa McCann Clark
Teresa McCann Clark is a painter based on the edge of the Lake District. Working between abstraction and landscape, her paintings explore weather as both meteorological event and emotional condition.
Living in London for over twenty years, McCann Clark worked as a writer and director across film, television and performance. She has been commissioned by the BBC, Film4 and Channel 4, with international projects including work with Cirque du Soleil.
Shaped by the shift from the intensity of the city to the intensity of wilderness, her painting practice emerges through walking, observation and a sustained engagement with the surrounding landscape. She works from her home studio at Willow Cottage.

Karen Suskin
Artist, clothes maker, stylist, decorator, textile designer, film costume fabricator, social art practitioner, art facilitator — Karen Suskin’s practice defies easy categorisation.
She studied in South Africa, majoring in Graphic Fine Art with painting and textiles as subsidiary subjects, and is recognised for her multimedia works and installations in exhibitions including the National Exhibition of Contemporary Art and the Standard Bank Collection. Karen has shown her work across multiple venues, not always gallery spaces, but sites specific to her themed artworks.
Karen lectured at the Cape Peninsula University for over twenty years and developed numerous Cross Pollination modules to bridge design disciplines in shared learning spaces. This work led to a Masters Degree titled A Goethean Perspective on Design Education – From Knowing to Understanding. The theme continues to influence her life and work today: paying attention to what is hidden in plain sight through Goethean Observation, and seeking material forms that reach into hidden spaces of the self to reveal a philosophical, respectful understanding of the world.
Karen’s pleasure lies in the rituals and rhythms of the making.
* Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749–1832) was a German poet, playwright and scientist. His scientific practice and observations are only now receiving widespread acknowledgment.
